3 shows and a movie I am super excited about!

Every now and then you find yourself in tv series goldmine.  Usually you only strike gold here and there, but I have dug into a "Superpit" mine of solid gold tv watching.  I have not been this excited about anything since I discovered 30 Rock, How to make it in America and Breaking Bad a while back.  So here they are- in no particular order:

1) Community- I watched five minuted of this here and there late on TV when nothing was on, but did not give it the commitment and time it deserved so passed when it first came out.  BUT I have been watching a marathon of this since I got tonsilitis and this has been painful for me, cos it is full of laugh out loud funny bits that make my tonsils hurt.  I love the movie references, I love the dialogue but mostly I love the end credit joke segments.
2) Treme- a new show ( I think) based in New Orleans after the Hurricane.  Its gritty, dark and dirty and thats just how it looks.  My little L (7 months) loves it too, which brought a whole new love for me, watchign him completely mesmorised by the brass sections and New Orleans Funk.  Great soundtrack, great visuals- 1 episode in and can't wait to see and hear more
3) The Black Donnelly's - set in NY in the Irish neighbourhoods, revolving around the lives and transformation of four brothers as they enter the organised crime world.  Again- only one episode in but I am looking forward to more and upset knowing this is the only season as it has already been cancelled- arrghhh, does that mean it will only go downhill or yet another case of networks not allowing good shows to develop, well will have to watch more to tell you.

Too much to watch and not enough time, and what to watch first?

and on a p.s. note
Watched Catfish (movie) the other night.  Can't tell you what it is about, and don't try to find out or let anybody tell you but WATCH IT.  The potential for someone ruining it, or accidently reading something is too great so don't delay and watch it soon.  It had me on the edge of my seat, talking to the screen, can't miss a minute attention span- and was the source of much contemplation and heated discussion afterwards- which for me is always the sign of a great movie.

A guide to Parenting- bad mummy mone style

FEEDING
1) If your child is wriggling too much and not interested in food, chances are he may have done what we refer to as the push poo...
You have pushed too much food in one end and it has come out the other..

Stay back you miserable cow!

re-read last post.... what a miserable cow.  I had the beginning of quote 'really gross tonsilitis" and my tonsils were all again quote, "pussy" (is that how you spell pus with an e sound or have I just made my tonsilitis sound dirty?)  I ddin't know it then but I know now thats why I was such a sad sack.  What a miserable beast - much better now, back to mothering (trying to) but happily!

where did the last six months go?

Today little L has his six months birthday.  It feels like yesterday I was peeing on that little stick and all of a sudden here we are today with a bouncing (screaming and yelling) laughing hysterically little man (not baby- he has been going on 16 for months now)
What have I learnt?- hmm not sure as I am a sleep deprived walking zombie alot of the time and the rest of the time fulfilling my ADHD potential by working like a madwoman on all my creative dreams that must be done NOW and ALL AT ONCE.
For the first 3 months I was just working at not being a complete insane person through lack of sleep, keeping my boobs from falling off through their lack of breaks and working overtime, getting dressed and brushing my hair at least every second day, all the while thinkning - yes, you're lovely but WHAT HAVE I DONE?
From 3 to about 5 months I started feeling like I had the hang of this mothering gig so in true Monie style decided we could broaden the workload and started a t-shirt design business.  We were hanving playdates, baking cakes, dishes were done, clothes were washed- regular little Betty Homemaker.  Little L was thriving( his hair still growing longer and longer while the underneath wore away around the back from lying on his back until it now looks like he has an undercut), smiling, rolling, pure joy to hang out with really. But somewhere in the last month I have started to wonder have I gotten worse? Isn't the progression supposed to keep getting better.  Somewhere along the line, his bedtime and feeding habits have gotten worse not better.  Perhaps during that cruisy stage when I thought- oh bringing him into my bed for one feed won't hurt, oh letting him stay in here one night so I don't have to get up again won't hurt... until we get to today and he has our bed and we only have the couch for a 'good' nights sleep....
Today, I might make a cake to celebrate little L's six month birthday and remind me of that betty homemaker period... even if it did only last a month.
I hear him waking now- lets see if I can Betty Homemaker once again
Happy six month little L- I love you so much and will try to get better at being your mum again

Things I have been making.....King Louis Kustoms

Things are moving along with the little venture, been making more designs and had our second market last week, and our third one will be next week.  I try to keep things at a reasonable and managable pace but with a five month old it still feels hectic and crazy at times....  but he is adorable and delicious and quite the model....

things they don't tell you about motherhood...tired

Sometimes you get so tired and your eyes get so dry, you feel like you could actually file your nails with them...
